Catharine grew up in Kilkeel in Northern Ireland and now lives and works in Edinburgh. She completed her Foundation Diploma in Art and Design in 1990 in Manchester Polytechnic before graduating from Liverpool John Moores' University with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design. She then attended Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College of Art and Design from 1997 to 2001, and then achieved an MA in Illustration with Printmaking.
She received The Langside Watercolour Award in 2008 and The Cuthbert Award in 2009 at The Royal Glasgow Institute.
She has also exhibited at the Institute of Painters in Watercolours at Mall Galleries, London, The Royal Scottish Academy, The Edinburgh Academy,The Paisley Art Institute and The Royal Scottish Society of Watercolourists.
Her work is held in collections such as Allied Domecq, Anthony Worrell Thompson Restaurants and Liverpool Maritime Museum.
