Born in 1966, Catrin Williams was brought up on a hill-farm near Bala, and has lived near the sea on the Llŷn Peninsular since 1996.

She achieved an Honours degree in Fine Art from the Institute of Higher Education in Cardiff.

In 2001 Catrin was elected to the Royal Cambrian Academy.

The experience of living in Wales, is an obvious theme in her work. Elements from her background and upbringing in Meirionnydd insist on inclusion in her work: the home and the farm; celebrations and the clothing; music and Welsh culture; family traditions and familiar faces.
