Elaine studied at Norwich School of Art and Design gaining a B.A. (Hons) Fine Art, having previously learnt printmaking skills such as linocuts (relief prints), etching and silk screen, at Colchester Institute.
“I am very interested in drawing the figure and this has inspired much of my work. I now like to bring texture into my prints and this is often achieved through collograph plates. I enjoy printmaking because there is always an element of surprise in the results. Different effects can be achieved by changing the process slightly, the pressure of the press, a different colour on top of another or combining more than one printing plate, whether it be etching, lino or collograph.”
Elaine is a member of Gainsborough's House Printworkshop in Sudbury. Her work has been shown at Gainsborough's House and in many exhibitions including The Minories, Colchester; Christchurch Mansion Ipswich, and Snape Maltings. She has also had a one woman exhibition at Colchester Mercury Theatre.
