Jackie Anderson was born in Glasgow in 1973.
She has a degree in Sociology from Aberdeen University and a MFA from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, Dundee (2002).
She has exhibited widely throughout the UK, in New York and Palo Alto, California.
Her beautiful, often delicate, portraits share a concern with colour, tone and reduction. Many of her paintings have been created using almost transparent washes of paint so the surface appears stained rather than painted upon, resulting in an unusually fragile image.
Jackie has won a number of awards, most recently the Alastair Salvesen Art Scholarship. This travel award allowed her to make new work in Trinidad and Tobago.
