Michael G Clark PAI RSW

Born 1959 Ayr, Michael Clark studied at The Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 1983.

Michael then worked as a Graphic Designer for BBC Scotland. In 1989 he moved to London. He designed printed textiles, art directed and painted. London became home for 10 years.

He returned to Scotland in 1999 where he now lives and paints. His work is a delicate balance between abstract and representational. Colour is handled with passion, creating mood and form.

Michael has exhibited at The Royal Glasgow Institute, The Royal Scottish Academy and The Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour. He was Awarded RSW in 2014.

2015 The Artist Surfaces Award, Paisley Art Institute.
2014 Awarded RSW by The Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour.
2012 Awarded the Diploma of the Paisley Art Institute.
2011 The Jamieson Award at the Scottish Drawing Competition.
2010 Windsor and Newton Prize at the RSW Annual Exhibition, RSA Galleries, Edinburgh.
2008 and 2007, The Wren Gallery Award, for Still Life Painting, at the annual Paisley Art Institute Exhibition.
2007 The Art Hire Prize, at the Scottish Drawing Competition, Paisley Art Institute Exhibition.
2007 Selected for the Singer Friedlander Watercolour Competition.
2005 The Art Hire Prize, at the Paisley Art Institute Annual Exhibition.
2003 Runner-up in the Aspect Painting Prize (previously Kennox Prize).
2003 Elected a Professional member of Visual Arts Scotland and an Artist member of Paisley Art Institute.
2006 Elected as an Artist Member of The Glasgow Art Club in 2006.
