Denise trained initially in textile design studying at both Loughborough and Manchester University. After completing her degree, she worked for many years as a freelance illustrator for major publishing companies worldwide in the field of books, fine art prints, greeting cards and associated products. She now concentrates on painting, inspired by the beautiful countryside where she lives in Shropshire.
She was a Member of the Society of Botanical Artists from 2013 - 2019. She was also a member of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers from 1998 - 2015. exhibiting annually at the Mall Galleries, London and every two years in Palmengarten, Frankfurt, Germany.
Denise has exhibited with Lime Tree Gallery since 2019 in the Long Melford and Bristol galleries, and at UK art fairs since 2022.
