Having graduated with a diploma in graphic design, as Irene's work developed, she found her field of interest was changing to a more Fine Art treatment of her subject matter.

Irene was employed with Reid Kerr College / West of Scotland University as an Outreach tutor from 2003 - 2013.

She has been a member of Paisley Art Institute since 1998, and Artist member since 2001, serving on the committee for many of these years, returning at present to take up the role of Membership Secretary again. In 2024 she was awarded the PAI DIPLOMA.

She is also a member of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists and the Glasgow Art Club.

She has exhibited widely in galleries throughout the UK.

Artist Statement

The main body of my work consists predominantly of oil on linen, of which the subject matter is still life, everyday domestic items, naturally observed through my own personal and imaginative perception. This is a constant development. Inspiration for my work is brought about by my love of colour, shapes and textures.
