Luis Morris was born in 1963 in Wrexham.

He studied Architecture and Mathematics at the University of Nottingham and then Portraiture at Heatherley’s School of Fine Art, Chelsea. He gained a diploma in portraiture and a commendation from the Royal Society of Portrait Painters.

Luis joined De La Rue in 1984 as a banknote designer and specialist portrait artist. He was appointed Official Artist of the 2007 Championships, Wimbledon.

He was elected to the Council of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 2009.

Luis was the winner of the London heat of Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year, 2013.
