Having trained as a three dimensional artist, with a BA(Hons) in ceramics, Ruth's passion for painting has been nurtured through her teaching career. For the past 20 years she has taught Fine Art and she is currently Head of Faculty for the Visual Arts in a large secondary school in Bristol.
"Living rurally on the side of the Mendips, and holidaying on the beaches of Pembrokeshire and Cornwall, ‘Light on Landscape’ and painting en plein air really is my passion and release from the everyday. I love the sense of spontaneity which working outdoors brings and seize this opportunity as often as I can.
I am hugely drawn to the world around us that we live in. The beauty of the rural landscape just speaks to my soul. My aim is for my work to be an extension of all my senses- an emotional response to what my body is physically experiencing, using colour and movement to express an abstract expressionist outcome…"
