Born In Brighton in England, Sarah Spence has lived in France since 1991.

She comes from a family that were, either in the medical profession, or artists. Her Great Grandfather, Ernest William Spence, was an accomplished landscape and portrait painter.

Although she was accepted at several art schools when young, her life took a different turn and she worked, in the medical profession. She has lived in Europe, Asia and the Middle East where she has always painted and spent a lot of time with artists.

Having lived in the South of France for nearly 30 years, Sarah has taken part in numerous exhibitions with regional artists and had solo exhibitions, including the Hotel de La Cité, Carcassonne and Inspiré Boutique Espace d’Art. She also had paintings accepted by the Royal Institue of Oil painters, Mall Gallery, London.

She started painting landscapes of the area, working in watercolours with pen and ink. The colours and especially the light of Southern Europe, inspires her.
She now concentrates on still lifes, and is mainly interested in colour, shape and design.
