Trevor Sowden was born in Cardiff in 1933. He trained at Cardiff College of Art, and also has the Goldsmith’s College Advanced Diploma. Following National Service in the Royal Navy, he taught art in East London. Since retirement, he has concentrated on painting, printmaking and small sculpture. Drawing has always been important and he brings clarity of vision to whatever subject he works in, whether it is ships and the sea, landscape or figures.

He first exhibited his work with the Young Welsh Contemporary Artists in 1954 and more recently has contributed to exhibitions at the Mall Galleries, London; The Westcliffe Gallery, Sheringham; Gainsborough’s House, Sudbury and the Salle des Tiercons, Jarnac, France to name but a few. He has work in private collections in France, Switzerland, American and Britain, including the Palace of Westminster. In 2014 one of his works was bought for the University College, London Picture Collection.

Trevor is a member of Gainsborough’s House Printmakers.
