Val Pitchford worked in aspects of design for a number of years. Her ultimate aim was to become a full time painter. This was finally achieved over 15 years ago. She had the privilege of studying for a considerable amount of time with the gifted and immensely knowledgeable Robin Child at his Lydgate Art Research Centre. The lectures and practical experience gained were exceptional.
Val now paints full time in her Malvern Studio.
Oil is a favourite medium, generally on canvas and at times on paper. She aims to present an idea with an immediate and fresh approach. Always exploring, moving from abstract to the representational and aware of how much there is to learn especially from those who pushed the boundaries ahead.
Val has exhibited on many occasions in private galleries, in Cork Street, the Mall Galleries and as a Discerning Eye prize winner in the Triforium of the Temple Church in London.
Three of her paintings were commissioned and presented at the centenary celebrations in Fátimain Portugal, May 2017.
Val's work is in collections in the UK, on the Continent as well as in America.
