June 6 - August 31A mixed exhibition of new paintings changing and refreshing throughout the summer months. We are proud to welcome two new artists with very different styles to the gallery: Colin Brown’s distinctive use of collage combined with oils, acrylics and glazes, creates work of extraordinary balance and free association. His ‘joy in collage’, in finding and using materials that might otherwise be discarded or forgotten, celebrates regeneration and the Dadaist ideal of looking at society in fragments. Susan Laughton’s long-standing interest in landscape and architecture has always inspired her painting and drawing. Vernacular buildings, both rural and urban, domestic and functional are a source of geometric, architectural forms. Process and materials are important as a way of allowing her paintings to emerge as objects in their own right allowing production of scenes that create tension within space and mark the passage of time and distance.
