Wileman and McKie

November 10 - 30 This exciting exhibition brings together two of Lime Tree Gallery’s most distinguished and widely collected artists Peter Wileman FROI RSMA FRSA and Lucy McKie ROI. United through friendship, they are also both members of The Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the only major British Art Society that promotes and exhibits work of the highest standard exclusively in the Oils. The ROI provides a centre of excellence to all who love this robust medium, and it is one of the nine member societies that form the Federation of British Artists. Lime Tree Gallery’s close relationship with both artists has developed over many years. Their work often hangs side by side in both galleries and on our art fair stands internationally and throughout the UK. This is the second time we have brought the artists together in a dedicated two-person exhibition at our Bristol gallery. Although the artists’ styles are very different, somehow their work is very complementary. Peter Wileman is well known for his powerful semi abstract landscapes, especially through the exploration of light. His paintings evoke an emotional response to the mood, weather, changing seasons and contrasting colours. Lucy’s work focuses on intricate detail, capturing beauty, natural light, and form. She aims to reflect a serene and uplifting feeling within her compositions, which really capture a moment in time. Her work encourages the viewer to see beauty and inspiration in things that might not always catch their immediate attention.
