We proudly introduce a new artist to the gallery. Susan Ashworth was born in 1968 on the island of Portland, Dorset. She grew up in a landscape of stone quarries, cliffs and wide views across field and scrub to open sea. Susan graduated with a BA(Hons) in Fine Art from Falmouth School of Art & Design in 1991. She has been inspired by painters on both sides of the Atlantic, but especially the Bay Area Figurative Movement. Her oil paintings evolve from the process of photographic abstraction where broad blocks of tone, flashes of colour and areas in shadow are built up layer after layer to capture the moment of light falling on objects. Susan's work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the UK, in Europe and the USA.
